The Colors of Joy

Joy Shott

Newcastle Square Realty Associates will be hosting a one-person exhibit of paintings by Colonial Pemaquid artist, Joy Shott. Entitled, “The Colors of Joy”, the images are created with the use of various kinds of water media. With emphasis on color, patterns and shapes, her display features flowers, marine art, still life and architectural landmarks that say Maine.

Her love for color is especially evident in her floral images which are based on plants and blossoms from her garden. Here, the juxtaposition of hues and shapes has led to new creations of semiabstract paintings of orchids. She has exhibited these and other works in virtually every watercolor society nationwide. She has also served as juror, lecturer and teacher for these various art organizations and institutions. Here, until it closed, she taught watercolor classes at RTCA.

Winning top awards and honors, she achieved “artist” status in the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. Exhibiting in major shows has also led to inclusion in prominent art collections.

The “Colors of Joy” will be on display in Damariscotta at 87 Main Street from June 7th to July 14th.  A reception with the artist will be held on Thursday, June 28th, from 5 to 7 pm. All are welcome.
